4.
Ask others to join you in
requesting 1) setback distances that
are safe, 2) a contract with the wind developer that is fair to all who are
impacted by the project, and 3) to be included in the process of deciding
where these wind farms will be located
Here's What We
are Doing:
1.
We're getting educated on the subject of wind development. We're glad
for the economic and environmental benefits, but if such a major development
comes to our area, we also want to become aware of the unintended side effects
such as those laid out in this website (health effects, land values, and so
forth), and be sure the Adams County Wind Ordinance is written in a way that
protects the people from as many of those as possible.
2.
We're writing a letter to all the
Adams County Board members, respectfully asking them to make the three
amendments outlined in this web site. We believe these proposed
amendments will help make the coming wind developments far more positive for
all citizens.

3.
We're letting others in Adams County
know about the urgent need to change the Adams County Wind Ordinance using any way open to us as private citizens,
including email, the media and this web site.
4.
We're writing the Illinois States
Attorney, and copying our state and
federal leaders, to ask her to consider giving Illinois citizens a "Code of
Conduct" policy setting forth ethical and consistent guidelines for counties
that choose to develop wind farms, similar to the policy created by the New
York States Attorney.

5.
We're checking with citizen groups around the nation to learn from their
experiences.
5.
Become aware of other citizen groups
who have dealt with wind farms surrounding their homes, too.
If you are so inclined, you can form a
citizens group here or join one of the national ones to gain strength in
numbers. They are also able to steer you to a variety of professionals
who have expertise in this area.
6.
You can email us if you have questions,
thoughts, ideas, or resources that you would like to see included on this
website.
