"How much does it cost?"

"How much does it cost?" is not an entirely simple question.

It depends on the details of your special event.

Here is a price guide along with some samples of event prices to give you a good idea.

When you call or email, we will give you a specific quote based on the details of your event.

Prices may vary from those quoted below because of special factors including:

*   length of time involved
*   preparation & clean up
*   potential impact on facility (a large family gathering including children vs. a group of quilters)
*   other special factors (people who are kind to the donkeys get a little better deal, for example!  We call it our "donkey discount.") 

Seriously, the donkey thing was a joke, but they do appreciate kind and thoughtful visitors just as we do!

For straight "rental" fees, go to the "Daytime" or "Evening" chart below to get an estimate of how much it may cost to rent the Scale House (not including food).

Prices are primarily based on:

1.  Number of people

2.  Whether the event is daytime or evening, weekend or weekday (see charts below).

3.  Food arrangements, if any

Food & Catering Options

1.  We can work with a caterer and quote you a price per person that includes both the food and the use of the facility.

2.  You can bring in your own food (potluck, cookout, order pizza--its up to you)

3.  You can hire your own catering service

Daytime & Evening Prices include:

*  Set up of tables & chairs, use of existing Scale House decorations (both general decorations, and also special tabletop or other decorations you might wish to use)
*  Plenty of hospitality
*  A tour of Shelly's studio and the barns (we'll talk as long as you keep asking questions--if you nod off, we'll quit talking). 
*  Advance decoration or set-up time included at no charge, but subject to scheduling with other events.

Evening Only, Prices ALSO include: 
*  use of fireplace
*  candlelit atmosphere, outdoor lighting, or other special indoor lighting

Prices do not include:

*   Food.  You can have a fancy catered meal, bring in your own food, grill out, or even order pizza if you'd like.  We will be glad to work with a caterer on your behalf if you prefer we make those arrangements for you.
*  Tablecloths (you can rent ours for $4 per table)
*  Special dishes or table settings (you can rent fancy antique dishes/silverware if you'd like for $7.50 per setting).  Some caterers provide table service as well; others use disposable dishes.
 

To illustrate why price can vary, imagine two events with twelve people at each.  One group of twelve wants a candlelit catered meal (we arrange the catering for them, transport the food and dishes for them, and serve the meal to them), and the other group of twelve are quilters who don't particularly want us to stand around and watch them quilt, and they bring their own snacks.  We love to have both kinds of groups, but our prices reflect the details of what each group wants and needs.
